I Remembered My First Dream In Five Years

I’ve had a handful of dreams in the past 5 years but I’ve not been able to recall any of them, even

those I manage to recall I only do so in bits and pieces. Then a few months ago while researching for an episode I was supposed to make based on dreaming (which I never eventually published), I stumbled on Chris Hammond’s website (don’t know him? Google him) where he gave tips on remembering your dreams. With this in mind, let me tell you about the only dream I remember well in a span of 5 years.

So I was coming from somewhere🤔, I don’t really know where but I knew I was on my way back to my apartment in school. I was in a taxi and I was the only one in it. But the taxi was taking me to my former apartment in an area called Modomo (suddenly my destination changed, dreams are absurd). On the way there, two crash car racers were racing past us, they were driving really recklessly. They would do summersault stunts and scream off their lungs.

We eventually got to my former apartment and it wasn’t what I expected it to be. It looked familiar like I had seen it in another dream before but it wasn’t the same apartment I knew, it was more like a hostel now. I got down and was looking for money to pay the driver and by the time I looked up, the driver was gone. At the entrance of the hostel, I saw Timothy my former flat mate and we walked inside and explored the hostel like it was an old hostel of ours. I also saw a room that felt like my former room. I told Timothy that I needed to go because I needed to drop my things but truth was I just wanted to go to my real room. Then he removed his trousers (🤣I told you dreams are absurd) and sat to play a board game with a former schoolmate of ours, his name was Mafo. I greeted Mafo awkwardly, he looked a bit older than when I saw him last (which was over 10 years ago). I beckoned to timothy that we should go but he ignored me like I wasn’t even there.

Then, I woke up!

The dream felt incomplete😅, but really, I felt so happy when I woke up and the details of the dream was complete in my head.

So now here’s how to imprint any dream you don’t want to forget.

Immediately I woke up, I rushed to look for a pen & paper and I scribbled down the entire dream and I gave it a title, I titled mine “A Trip Down Dream Lane”. As I was writing, I was starting to forget the details of the dream then I increased my writing speed. My writing really looked horrible because of the writing speed but I was still able to make out the words. Just take a look at it.

After writing, I smiled, satisfied with myself. I felt like Mendeleev, the chemist who discovered a critical property of the Periodic Table in his dream.

I laid back down, still smiling and tried to catch myself forgetting the dream. I was like,

“Go ahead, boy. You’re not forgetting this one.”

Fin.
